Monday will be Memorial Day, and that is the day that we commemorate and celebrate and honor those men and women who sacrificed literally everything for this constitutional republic.

And I find myself thinking, here we are just a little bit over a month away from the Fourth of July, and the birth of our nation. And here on this weekend, we’re celebrating and commemorating Memorial Day, I’m struck by something and it’s this: I’m fairly certain that every one of those men and women who gave up their lives defending this country.

They’re proud of what they did. I’m assuming they’ve received their great heavenly reward. And I believe that they’re proud of what they did. They felt a call to honor and to service in this country. And they did that. I just don’t know that we as a country right now. And let’s be honest, for the better part of this century that we’re living in the 2000s. I just don’t know that we’re living up to the sacrifice that they made.
