A new state audit has found that inspections of North Carolina child care centers have become too predictable, potentially reducing their effectiveness in identifying health and safety concerns. Another audit also identified $97.3 million in financial reporting errors within the Department of Public Safety, raising additional questions about fiscal oversight.
