A North Carolina man is demanding a $2.5 million refund of a political donation to a pro-Trump PAC, citing “empty promises” in a new lawsuit filed in court last week. Fred Eshelman, a Willington businessman, donated the money to True the Vote, Inc. and is asking for all of it to be returned after the group’s efforts failed to prove fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Newsweek reported Eshelman wired the Houston-based organization $2 million on Nov. 5 and then sent the remaining $500,000 the following week.

Three more people have died as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak linked to a Charlotte, North Carolina church, according to a report by health officials on Thursday. The Charlotte Observer reports a total of 12 people have died from the outbreak tied to a 1,000-person gathering in October at the United House of Prayer for All People.

According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the state hit a record high of 1,966 coronavirus hospitalizations with a tally of 364,312 cases throughout the state. To date, NCDHHS reports 5,295,290 coronavirus tests completed.
