According to court documents, The Tar Heel served as a training base for some militia members involved with the act of domestic terrorism.  A superseding indictment against several alleged members of the militia group Oath Keepers shows at least one man “attended a training camp in North Carolina.” Although, no specific location of the camp was listed in the court filings.

Jasmine Johnnae Clifton made her initial appearance in front of a federal judge Monday after a grand jury indicted her on fraud charges last week, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina said in a press release.

Savannah Childress, 14, was reported missing on Feb. 11 from her home in Denton, N.C. Investigators say she was using her school-issued computer to talk with an individual online. A man identified as William Robert Ice, 38, of Mercer County, Pennsylvania, took Childress from home, according to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office. He then transported her west, sending authorities on a multi-state manhunt.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at Cornelius Village Apartments on Meridian Street off Catawba Avenue around 7 p.m ET. When officers arrived they found Gabriel Alexis Henderson dead in a bedroom of her apartment, police said.

The tornado hit early Tuesday morning in southeastern Brunswick County near Seaside Rd. and Highway 17 in the Ocean Ridge Plantation Community, destroying homes and leaving a path of destruction including thousands without electricity, according to news reports.
