84 deaths related to Covid-19 in one day is a new high for North Carolina.  That number was recorded on Wednesday, December 1 according to information provided by the New York Times.  So far this week the daily average number of Covid deaths in North Carolina is 41.  Comparing that to recent weeks, it is up significantly.  For instance, last week November 23-29 saw a daily average death rate of 31 per day, and the 2 weeks prior saw 33 and 29 respectively.

North Carolina State University professor De-Yu Xie is taking a closer look the DNA structure COVID-19 and how plants can effect progression of the virus. Xie and his team believes the chemical compounds of certain foods can bind to or block a specific Coronavirus enzyme.

The United Kingdom gave emergency authorization use to Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine on Wednesday. "Help is on the way," U.K. Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced Wednesday morning, after UK regulators granted emergency authorization for a vaccine. Pfizer, the American pharmaceutical giant, has worked with German partner BioNTech to get to this stage of the rollout.

According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the state hit a record high of 1,966 coronavirus hospitalizations with a tally of 364,312 cases throughout the state. To date, NCDHHS reports 5,295,290 coronavirus tests completed.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper issued a grim reminder to people Saturday.
