WBT NC D8 GOP Debate

News Talk 1110 & 99.3 WBT has announced that it will host a debate between candidates in the Republican Primary race for the North Carolina 8th Congressional District seat.  The Republican Primary will take place on March 5, 2024, and will determine which Republican candidate will represent the party in the NC 8th District general election on November 5, 2024.

WBT’s debate will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Wingate University’s Batte Fine Arts Center.  Invitations have been sent to the six registered candidates for the Primary: Allan BaucomJohn R. Bradford IIIDon BrownLeigh BrownMark Harris, and Chris Maples.  A deadline of Sunday, January 21, 2024, has been set for the candidates to accept the invitation to participate in the debate.

Moderated by WBT’s Bo Thompson and Beth Troutman, hosts of Good Morning BT (6:00 AM – 10:00 AM), the debate will feature questions for the candidates presented by WBT’s Vince Coakley (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM), Pete Kaliner (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM), Brett Winterble (3:00 PM – 7:00 PM), Brett Jensen (7:00 PM – 8:00 PM), and Mark Garrison (News Director & Morning Anchor).

The event will include a 30-minute show hosted by Thompson and Troutman beginning at 7 PM, with the 90-minute debate beginning at 7:30 PM.  The entire program will be broadcast live on WBT and will be commercial-free.
