One step forward with health recovery and two steps back with injuries seems to be the year for Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey.

After missing six weeks with a high-ankle sprain, and then injuring his shoulder in his first game back, which has caused more missed games, the All Pro even injured himself while rehabbing during the team’s off week.

McCaffrey injured his thigh last week and tweaked it during limited participation in practice Wednesday and fully missed practice Thursday, which left Carolina coach Matt Rhule to say he doesn’t expect him to play this week against Denver.

Mike Davis will continue to serve as McCaffrey’s backup and will get the start if CMC can’t play.
