A week after filling in for his mentor Rush Limbaugh, WBT’s Brett Winterble was featured in Talkers Magazine who noted the career milestone on Monday.

“I am just overjoyed at the chance to connect with the greatest audience in all of talk radio,” Winterble said. “It is a homecoming. I have kept in close touch with everyone at the Rush Limbaugh show over these years and nothing could be more special than to sit in that legendary seat for a man I consider a friend and mentor.”

According to Talkers, Winterble started his career as Limbaugh’s producer in 1995 and was with the show until early 2006. He made a brief stop at KFMB-AM in San Diego, Calif. before taking over the drive time airwaves in Charlotte for WBT.

“Brett Winterble represents the future of audio,” said Matt Hanlon, senior VP and market manager for Radio One Charlotte. “When John Hancock took this exact seat on WBT 30 years ago he was a progressive-minded voice in the market, placing an emphasis on issues that affected the community. Brett takes on a similar role in a new and meaningful way for our loyal audience. He cares about the listener and demonstrates a genuine interest in the community. We’re thrilled that Brett is joining our team.”
