Fort Bragg soldier killed in Iranian attack 

A Fort Bragg soldier from Hawaii was among two US Army service members killed during an Iranian missile and drone attack on a US air base in Jordan, the Department of Defense announced Monday.

The DOD identified the soldier as 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan from Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air Missile Defense Command at Fort Bragg.

He was killed in action on July 18 following an enemy attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. Pvt. Isabella Gonzales from Carrollton, Texas, who was assigned to the 10th Army Air Missile Defense Command in Germany was also killed in the attack.

US Central Command said the service members were defending the installation against ballistic missile and drone attacks when they were killed. 

“Renee and I are heartbroken that 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan was among the U.S. service members killed in action over the weekend,” said Congressman Richard Hudson, R-NC9, whose district includes Fort Bragg. 

“America is the greatest country in the world, but the freedoms we enjoy did not come without sacrifice,” Hudson added. “We must never take them for granted, and we must always remember the servicemembers, veterans, and patriots who have defended them.”

“First Lieutenant Feehan served our nation with courage and made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Hawaii Gov. Josh Green, according to Hawaii News Now. “Jaime and I extend our deepest condolences to his ʻohana, friends and fellow service members. His death is a painful reminder of the human cost of war. Hawaii mourns alongside them and will always remember his bravery and selfless service.” 

Officials have indicated that Feehan will be awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Badge medal. He will also be posthumously promoted to the rank of captain. 

President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth offered condolences to the families of the fallen service members and said the United States would continue military operations in the region. Trump is expected to attend the dignified transfer of the soldiers’ remains at Dover Air Force Base.
