Dangerous Heat Wave Pushes Charlotte Toward Historic Records

Charlotte is enduring one of its hottest Julys on record, with extreme temperatures and humidity expected to continue through the week.
Saturday reached 101 degrees, a new July 26 record, surpassing the previous 100-degree highs from 1914, 1940, and 2005. Sunday hit 102 degrees, just shy of the city’s 103-degree record for that date.
Forecasters predict highs between 96 and 100 degrees through Thursday, with heat index values climbing to 105–110.
Mecklenburg EMS reports a spike in heat-related emergencies: nine calls Saturday and six Sunday, up from three on Friday.
