Parents, Staff Seek Answers Over Sudden Exit of Ardrey Kell Principal

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools leaders are expected to face growing scrutiny Thursday evening as the Board of Education meets for the first time since the abrupt and unexplained retirement of longtime Ardrey Kell High School principal Jamie Brooks.
Several speakers, including at least one Ardrey Kell faculty member, have signed up for public comment at the 6 p.m. meeting on June 5.
Many are demanding answers after Brooks was quietly suspended with pay on May 2, a move the district did not disclose to families until weeks later through a public records request.
The district later announced her retirement, effective June 1, in a short message that offered no further explanation. Brooks had led Ardrey Kell since 2008.
The lack of transparency has sparked frustration among parents, teachers, and students, leaving the school community divided and seeking clarity.
