Birkdale Village, the popular mixed-use development in Huntersville, is officially up for sale.

A spokesperson for Jamestown, the management group that owns the property, confirmed to WCNC Charlotte that its investors have decided to list the development.

“We, along with our equity partners, regularly evaluate portfolio holdings in the context of market conditions,” the statement reads. “Based on that assessment, our investors have made the decision to market the property after almost 19 years of ownership. As general partner, we continue to believe in the long-term opportunity of the property and are seeking to remain in the transaction through this process.”

The announcement comes just two months after Huntersville leaders approved a controversial rezoning plan for Birkdale. The approved expansion would allow for new apartments, a boutique hotel, additional retail and office space, and parking decks.

The project sparked debate among residents and town officials, with concerns over overcrowding and whether the expansion aligns with community needs.
