McCrory, 64, spent fourteen years as Charlotte's Mayor from 1995 to 2009 before taking over as North Carolina's Governor in 2013. He lost his reelection bid to Roy Cooper in 2016 by a narrow margin of 10,277 votes. It was also the only gubernatorial seat to flip from Republican to Democratic five years ago.

CNN is reporting the deal for Pence is worth somewhere in the range of $3 million to $4 million. The first book is expected to be released in 2023 and will be a memoir of his time as second-in-command under President Trump. As for the second, it will be more of a broad autobiographical read expected in early 2024.

Half of Republicans believe the Jan. 6 violent siege was “largely a non-violent protest” or done by left-wing activists “trying to make Trump look bad,” the poll found. Overall, 59% blame Trump for the attack, and 80% of Democrats and 60% of Independents do not believe the Jan. 6 events were non-violent or staged by the left.

A clear reversal from his previous comments when the Kentucky Republican said the GOP needed to move past Trump. “The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people," McConnell said on the Senate Floor two weeks after a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol. A pointed rebuke of Trump that has faded away and replaced by the Leader's supportive words less than a month after denouncing the former president.
