Getting High In the Carolinas —- It’s Easy.
Some lawmakers want to crackdown on the “high you can buy” in convenience stores and smoke shops.
They want restrictions on the sale of gummies and drinks made with THC — the key ingredient found in marijuana.
But yesterday the South Carolina House defeated a bill that would have made those products harder to buy. During debate, one representative was stunned there was even opposition, saying, “Not one person has gotten up here today and said that children should be able to buy this stuff, and we have the way to stop that.”
But the bill was voted down.
Meantime, in North Carolina, a bill was introduced that would not allow anyone under 21 to buy the THC gummies or drinks. Representative Jimmy Dixon introduced the bill. “We’ve the good sense to put an age limit on these type of products,” Dixon told a House committee in Raleigh.
But his bill is not expected to pass during the current session, meaning a legal high, will remain readily available.
In November, however, a new Federal law goes into effect that will ban many of the THC products that are currently sold.
