Eight Charged in Deadly Catawba County House Party Shooting

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office has arrested eight people in connection with a mass shooting that happened during a party in the early hours of June 1, leaving one man dead and 11 others injured near Hickory.
The most recent arrest came early Friday, with 20-year-old Toland Huff taken into custody and charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Earlier this week, investigators announced the arrest of 22-year-old Garon Nathaniel Killian, who is also facing charges from an unrelated shooting in April. Three more suspects, Zachary Bates, 22; Ke’Andre Mack, 19; and Izaiah Mitchell (also known as Zay Harris), were charged with attempted murder on Thursday.
Eighteen-year-old Zoe Makenna Braswell was arrested by U.S. Marshals and charged as an accessory after the fact to attempted murder.
Two others, Raekwon Malik Craig, 21, and Patrick Lee Tolbert, 22, were charged with aiding and abetting underage alcohol possession. Investigators say both men helped plan the party where the violence broke out.
The shooting happened just after 12:45 a.m. at a home on Walnut Acres Drive. More arrests may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
