Karine Jean-Pierre switches affiliation to independent

In her upcoming book, former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre advocates for a shift away from partisan politics, urging readers to embrace life as independent thinkers.
“What I have decided to do, and I really have thought long and hard about this, is to follow my own compass. That’s what I’ve done and that’s what this book does,” she said in the Instagram video, urging Americans to not be so partisan.
A Gallup survey shows that 43 percent of Americans now identify as independents, with the number of Democrats and Republicans declining.
However, some former colleagues question Jean-Pierre’s motives for leaving the Democratic Party, accusing her of opportunism and plotting her rebranding while in the Biden administration.
“He’s had a historic presidency,” Jean-Pierre said of Biden during one of her final press briefings. “He’s done more in one term than most presidents have been able to do in two terms.”
Despite her deep roots in the Democratic Party, Jean-Pierre’s decision to become an independent was influenced by party pressure on President Biden not to seek a second term.
Her book, “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,” is set for release in October.
