The Trump administration is offering immigrants in the U.S. illegally who voluntarily return to their home country $1,000, along with travel assistance, as part of its deportation efforts.

Those using the CBP Home app to notify the government of their plans will be deprioritized for detention and removal. President Trump has emphasized immigration enforcement and mass deportation, but the process is resource-intensive, prompting the administration to encourage self-deportation as a cost-effective solution.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest,” Secretary Kristi Noem said. “DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App.”

The administration is seeking increased resources for ICE while promoting self-deportation as a way to address the issue of illegal immigration.
