After trying to cram through an expansion of gambling in the state via the budget, North Carolina state legislative leaders have abandoned the effort. The Republicans were being blocked by nearly all Democrats and a large portion of their own members. Listen Here:
The state-of-the-art, Vegas-style resort is schedule to open on the state’s southern border about a year from now. The Bureau of Indian Affairs signed off on the compact last week which was approved by North Carolina official. The tribe says the casino could provide upwards of 4,000 jobs to North Carolinians in the Charlotte region.Â
