Monks expected to walk through Charlotte for peace this week

A group of Buddhist monks is walking from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington as part of their “Walk for Peace,” with an expected arrival in Charlotte on Jan. 14.
The monks have been on the road since Oct. 26 and are scheduled to reach their destination on Feb. 11. The walk aims to highlight Buddhism’s tradition of activism for peace. This weekend the group traveled through West Columbia and Blythewood, South Carolina.
Charlotte Itinerary:
– Lunch Stop: Anne Springs Close Greenway – Lake Haigler, 2573 Lake Haigler Dr, Fort Mill, SC 29715 (Visiting Hours: 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM)
– Overnight Rest: Marion Diehl Recreation Center and Pool, 2219 Tyvola Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210 (Visiting Hours: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
“We warmly welcome everyone to visit us during the visiting hours at both stops!,” the monk’s @walkforpeace.usa page posted on social media.
