Myers Park High School Mourns Death of Senior Baseball Player

The Myers Park community is mourning the loss of William “Parker” South, a senior and baseball player at Myers Park High School, who died Tuesday, the school announced. The cause of death has not been released.
“It is with great sadness that we share that one of our students, William “Parker” South, a Myers Park senior, died today. Our thoughts, prayers, and sympathies are with his family and friends,” the school wrote in a Facebook post.
South was a pitcher for the Mustangs during last season.
“Parker is known by his friends for his loyalty, engaging personality, and loving spirit. He will be deeply missed by our school and in our extended community.”
In response to his passing, the school has made counselors and grief support available to students and staff through its Wellness Center, which will remain open during the school day.
A candlelight vigil honoring Parker will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Randolph Park, organized by the Myers Park Little League.
