The Murdoch family has finalized a deal that grants Rupert Murdoch’s eldest son, Lachlan Murdoch, control of its global media holdings, including Fox News and The Wall Street Journal.

The agreement, announced Monday, ends years of speculation about succession following Rupert Murdoch’s death and ensures the company’s conservative voice will remain intact.

Lachlan, 53, has long shared his father’s right-leaning political outlook, making his leadership a significant development in both U.S. media and politics. Fox News, a cornerstone of the empire, has been one of the most influential outlets in shaping conservative thought and voter opinion.

Under the deal, Rupert’s other children, James Murdoch, Elisabeth Murdoch, and Prudence MacLeod, will receive cash tied to the sale of millions of voting shares in Fox and News Corp. With the succession settled, Lachlan Murdoch now firmly leads one of the most powerful voices in conservative media.
