Charlotte Voters Begin Casting Ballots in Primary Races

Early voting is now underway in Charlotte, opening Thursday, Aug. 21, and continuing until Primary Day on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The primary will decide key races, including the city’s mayoral seat, four at-large positions on City Council and several district contests. Democratic voters will choose nominees in the mayor’s race as well as in Districts 1, 3, 4 and 5. In District 6, Republicans Sary Chakra and Krista Bokhari are facing off for the party’s nomination. Current District 6 representative Edwin Peacock III is instead running for an at-large council seat.
