More than 30 people were rescued from flash flooding in Charlotte overnight as heavy thunderstorms caused dangerous conditions.

Charlotte Fire crews responded to 51 flood-related emergency calls, including a rescue on Woodland Drive where two people were saved from a vehicle surrounded by rising floodwaters.

In another operation near Freedom Park, 13 people were rescued by five fire units using inflatable rescue boats in hazardous conditions.

Charlotte Fire Chief Reginald Johnson praised the heroic actions of the crews, emphasizing the importance of their training in protecting the community during challenging situations.
