Crews battled a massive fire at a South End Charlotte nightclub, Morehead Social,  on the 300 block of East Morehead Street around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

The fire was under control in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.

The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in property and content loss. The exact cause of the fire is challenging to determine due to the complete structural collapse, officials said.

Flames began in the bar in the basement and eventually reached the roof.

“Due to the complete structural collapse, determining the exact cause of the fire presents challenges for investigators. Currently, the cause remains undetermined, and the case remains under investigation,” the statement on Sunday said.

Despite setbacks, Morehead Social expressed determination to come back stronger.

Charlotte Fire Chief Reginald Johnson praised firefighters for their quick and professional response to the fire.
