The US Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade and the related Casey v Planned Parenthood opinions in an opinion released this morning. It means states will set their own laws regarding abortion.
If Roe & Casey are overturned, can America live with different abortion rules in different states? Maybe not. For the same reason that slavery led to a war.
John Daniel Davidson at The Federalist writes: “By snatching the question of abortion from the American people and their elected representatives, Roe divided the nation and sowed the seeds of a constitutional crisis. The contours of that crisis are now coming into view.”
