A seventh overall for Nick Saban including a 2003 Championship at LSU before a brief coaching stint in the NFL. Alabama (13-0) claimed a sixth national champion in the last 12 years under Saban. It's also the third for the Crimson Tide in the Playoff era, the most by any school.

No. 1 Alabama (11-0) will face No. 4 Notre Dame (11-1) in the Rose Bowl that was moved from Pasadena, Calif. to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on New Year's Day (5 p.m. ET/ TV: ESPN). It's the first of the two semifinal games followed by No. 2 Clemson (10-1) vs. No. 3 Ohio State (6-0) in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl (8 p.m. ET/ TV: ESPN). The Tigers are the top team from the Carolinas and will make the Playoff for a sixth-straight season.

The Fighting Irish (10-1) took Clemson to the wire in South Bend on Nov. 7 with a 47-40 double overtime win, casting doubt if Dabo Swinney's team would make it back for another championship run. As fate would have it, the five-time defending ACC champions took home a sixth consecutive title over the conference newcomers with a 34-10 win on Saturday night.

A stunned crowd of 12,092 at Hard Rock Stadium watched the Hurricanes surrender a school record 778 yards of total offense to the Tar Heels, mostly on the ground with a 10.1 yards per carry average.  Neither team came into the game competing for an ACC championship, but a possible Orange Bowl berth was very much alive for winner.
