Donald Trump has stated that he and Vladimir Putin will discuss dividing assets in Ukraine during peace talks that will include land and power plants.

The US president and his Russian counterpart are scheduled to talk on Tuesday.

“We’ll be talking about land. We’ll be talking about power plants,” Trump said to reporters aboard Air Force One Sunday. “We want to see if we can bring that war to an end. Maybe we can. Maybe we can’t, but I think we have a very good chance.”

Trump expressed his desire to end the war in Ukraine and mentioned that work has been done over the weekend.

Meanwhile, a Russian official emphasized Moscow’s demand for ironclad guarantees in any peace deal regarding Ukraine’s neutrality and exclusion from Nato membership.

Russia remains opposed to the deployment of Nato observers in Ukraine.
