Two facing charges of armed robbery and conspiracy

CMPD detectives have charged 27 year old Tyree Belk and 24 year old Gina Cathcart for their involvement in the armed robbery of a business.

On April 10 shortly before 4:40 p.m., Eastway Division Patrol Officers responded to the Skills Biz Center, located at 3627-A E. Independence Boulevard, in reference to an armed robbery from the business were they were advised that a black male and a black female entered the business and ordered an employee to open the register at gunpoint.  The suspects then fled the scene in a white Pontiac Grand Prix.

Thanks to an alert citizen, additional information regarding the suspects and vehicle was obtained.  Armed Robbery Detectives investigating this case then sent this information city-wide to officers.  A short time later, Eastway Division Officers located the suspect vehicle off of Central Avenue.  Officers conducted a felony traffic stop and took both Belk and Cathcart into custody without incident.  Both suspects were transported to police headquarters where they were interviewed by Armed Robbery Detectives.

A subsequent search warrant was executed for a hotel room that Belk and Cathcart had been living in in the 3200 block of Queen City Drive.  The stolen business money was located, along with several firearms and additional evidence of the robbery.

Both Belk and Cathcart have been charged with Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy.
