Stephen (STEH'-fehn) Curry scored 32 points and the Warriors gained their eighth straight win by beating the Rockets, 113-106 at Houston. Klay Thompson finished with 24 points to help the Warriors overcome James Harden's 20th triple-double of the season.

UCLA's Ball, Gonzaga's Williams-Goss among Wooden finalists

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Lonzo Ball of UCLA, Josh Hart of Villanova, Frank Mason III of Kansas, Purdue's Caleb Swanigan and Gonzaga's Nigel Williams-Goss are the finalists for the John R. Wooden Award as college basketball's player of the year. The five have been invited to Los Angeles for the trophy presentation at the College Basketball Awards on April 7.

Elite Eight-bound: Kentucky tops UCLA 86-75 behind Fox's 39

The Latest on the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Friday (all times Eastern): 1:15 a.m. The Southeastern Conference had a big Friday night. Chris Chiozza's incredible running 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted Florida past Wisconsin in overtime, and it gave the SEC three teams in the Elite Eight for the first time since 1986. Kentucky beat UCLA in the South Region, while South Carolina beat Baylor in the East.

Elite Eight of NCAA Tournament to be finalized Friday

The 2017 Elite Eight will be set following Friday's regional semifinal action in the NCAA Tournament. The marquee matchup will see second-seeded Kentucky face third-seeded UCLA in the South Region in Memphis. North Carolina, Kentucky and UCLA are joined by upstart Butler in the South Regional -- the only region where the top four seeds all advanced after the opening weekend.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- The Atlantic Coast Conference's strong regular season only stood to set up a first-weekend flameout in the NCAA Tournament. The league had a record nine bids, but North Carolina is the only one alive in the Sweet 16. And the South Region's No. 1 seed was fortunate to survive a second-round game against Arkansas to get there.

UCLA beats Cincinnati 79-67 to earn Sweet 16 trip

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- UCLA had trouble getting its high-octane offense going in the first half against Cincinnati's big, athletic defenders. Once the Bruins got rolling, there was no stopping them -- all the way into the Sweet 16. Next up: A blue blood rematch with Kentucky in the South Regional semifinals.

That shouldn't be a problem for Sunday's second-round game in the South Regional. Arkansas is just as eager to play fast -- even if that's a prospect that thrills the top-seeded Tar Heels.

(AP) -- No. 3 seed UCLA (30-4) vs. No. 6 seed Cincinnati (30-5) Second round, South region; Sacramento, California; approximately 9:40 p.m. BOTTOM LINE: This could be a good UCLA was the nation's top-scoring team during the season and put up 97 points against Kent State in its opener. The Latest on Day 2 of the NCAA Tournament (all times Eastern): 1 a.m. The final numbers from the first round are in, and the voters in The Associated Press Top 25 poll did a pretty good job of nailing the best teams. Of the 32 teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament's second round, 30 spent at least one week in the AP Top 25. The ones that didn't -- Arkansas and Middle Tennessee.
