(AP) -- A Virginia businessman convicted of international parental kidnapping and conspiracy for his role in a same-sex couple's child custody fight was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison. Philip Zodhiates, Waynesboro, drove Lisa Miller and 7-year-old Isabella Miller-Jenkins from Virginia to the Canadian border in 2009 so they could fly from Toronto to Nicaragua. He also helped with their living arrangements in the Central American nation, according to Assistant U.S.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota has landed on San Francisco's list of places where city workers aren't allowed to go on official business because the state passed a law allowing religious-affiliated adoption agencies to not place children with unmarried or same-sex couples.
ROME (AP) -- A court in Florence has recognized the overseas adoptions of children by two same-sex couples in rulings hailed by the gay rights community as a new step for Italy. The Tribunal for Minors recognized the British and U.S. adoptions as legal here, allowing the Italian citizenship of the parents to be passed onto the children.

OBIT-DOUG COE National Prayer Breakfast organizer dies at 88 ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Doug Coe, who cultivated relationships with national and world leaders and whose ministry coordinated the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, has died at the age of 88. Family spokesman Larry Ross says Coe died Tuesday in Annapolis, Maryland, after a brief hospitalization following a heart attack and stroke.
