DeMarcus Ware announces his retirement from NFL

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- DeMarcus Ware won't be returning to either the Dallas Cowboys or the Denver Broncos as expected. The 12-year NFL veteran is instead retiring from the NFL. Ware announced his decision Monday on Twitter. Next to a split image of the Cowboys and Broncos, Ware wrote, "After a lot of thought and prayer, I've decided to accept the unknown and retire from my NFL career.

The Latest on NFL free agency (all times Eastern): ___ 10 p.m. A person with knowledge of the deals says the Dallas Cowboys are adding two more defensive players in free agency in cornerback Nolan Carroll and defensive end Damontre Moore. Carroll, who comes over from NFC East rival Philadelphia, is getting a $10 million, three-year contract, the person told The Associated Press on Friday on condition of anonymity because the deals haven't been announced.

The person spoke to the AP on Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the team hasn't announced a decision on Romo, who will get a chance to pursue a starting job elsewhere.
