Chris Sale traded socks -- or Sox -- from white to red. Edwin Encarnacion took his big bat to Cleveland. Aroldis Chapman returned to the Bronx. Plenty of All-Stars, Cy Young winners and MVPs are wearing new uniforms this season. The biggest move occurred when the Boston Red Sox acquired Sale from the Chicago White Sox.

Yankees shortstop Gregorius hurts shoulder, return uncertain

New York Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius has a bruised right shoulder, ending his time at the World Baseball Classic and leaving his status for opening day in doubt. Yankees manager Joe Girardi didn't put on a timetable on a return, only saying, "He's going to be sidelined for a bit." The Yankees start the regular season April 2 at Tampa Bay.

A dozen Mariners set sail, World Baseball Classic on deck

Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz and Jean Segura were in a bit of a hurry after playing part of a spring training game over the weekend for the Seattle Mariners. They had to catch a plane to Florida, where their teammates from the Dominican Republic were convening for the World Baseball Classic to defend their 2013 title. "It's going to be really fun for us being around those guys," Segura said of his countrymen.

Tigers closer Rodriguez makes lone appearance before WBC

The next time Francisco Rodriguez pitches in a game, he figures to be a little more fired up. The Detroit closer had control trouble Saturday in his only action before joining Venezuela for the World Baseball Classic, walking two in a brief stint. Rodriguez had been scheduled to take the mound Wednesday, but the outing was pushed back due to hamstring tightness.
