It would be called Broadstone Bryant Park and would be located on ten acres on Wilkinson Boulevard at Suttle Avenue on the city's west side and would be built by Phoenix-based Alliance Residential. The property has been vacant since a planned mixed-use development went by the wayside during the recession.
On Monday, Charlotte city council will discuss the rezoning of the land from industrial to residential. The plan would allow up to 350 apartments on the site and would have lower rents than many of the high-end apartments that have been constructed in recent years.
Rental for a one bedroom unit in many high rise apartments that have been constructed in recent years in or near the uptown area have topped over $2,000 a month.
If city council gives the green light to the project, construction could begin in late 2017 or early 2018.
