American Heart Association Will Have A Community Stroke Awareness Event

Novant Health, Metlife and the American Heart Association have teamed up to create an event to bring awareness on how to prevent and end strokes, they announced today in a press release. 
The family-friendly occasion will teach attendants how to recognize and respond to a stroke through fun and interactive activities.

It will take place on Saturday, May 21st from 10am-1pm at Independence Park at Hawthorne Lane in Charlotte. Admission is free and some of the activities included will be:
  • Cooking Demos
  • Medic Hands Only CPR
  • Kids and Family Activites
  • Survivor Stories
  • Talk With a Doc
  • Zumba and more

In the United States, stroke is the 5th highest cause of death and 1 in 3 deaths come from heart disease, stroke or other cardiovascular diseases.
